The countdown has begun! Halloween is a funny time of year for me personally. I consider myself a fairly creative person, but for whatever reason I always bow out on this particular holiday. I cut corners on costumes, scramble last minute to borrow something, or just scrap things altogether. I feel constantly disappointed in myself every year that I don't come up with something EPIC.
If you're in the same boat I am, you're in luck! Last week our intern Caitlin and myself took a stroll through the shop and did all your dirty work - we came up with fun costume conversions based on items around the shop!
As many of you know, we aren't a naughty store, nor do we offer traditional "sexy costumes" this time of year. So this was a fun way to get creative and use pieces for Halloween that you would actually wear the rest of the year! Hooray! Now we're talking.
Below are some interesting interpretations and combinations of things we came up with. I hope this helps you if you're in need of costume assistance, or at the very least, I hope you are entertained!
Cookie Lyon from TV show Empire. Natori Faux Fur robe (in store in brown just like her outfit) plus an iCollection teddy equals the best of both worlds - sexy and comfy perfection!
The ever iconic Angel costume.
And there can't be an angel without a matching Devil! Create your look, then relish in your matching chemise and robe the rest of the year.
If you're attending an indoor party or event, why not go all out?! Hula dancer is easy, and don't forget we have those swim tops by bra size so you won't have to deal with anything moving!
Rock this blue/black corset, add a tulle or feathered skirt, and you're ready for Burlesque dancing!
The universal black corset. Decorate it, go glue gun crazy, or go classic with a witch outfit! Add a robe, some adhesive Black Lace Jewelry for accent and you have the easiest costume ever. You can find cheap witch hats at places like JoAnne Fabrics for $2-$4.
My personal favorite. Everyone knows a haggard mom when they see one! Grab a wrap robe, or a pullover robe and hit the dollar store for some hairspray and miscellaneous kids garb. No kiddos? No worries. That's what baby dolls are for. Add the coffee IV for a finishing touch.
Happy Halloween everyone!
And as a side note, don't forget Old Town Lansing offers Doggie Trick or Treating on Friday the 23rd starting at 4pm! We will be participating, handing out treats to those dressed up! If you're an animal lover, check it out. Preuss Pets will also be offering a doggie costume contest!
