Project Boudoir Lansing a Sweet Success

December 1, 2015

On November 19th, 2015 we along with LCC and The Runway Downtown Lansing hosted the largest event Curvaceous Lingerie has ever hosted.

Project Boudoir Lansing is a lingerie design competition open to any fashion designer in the state of Michigan.  Our goal this year was to find a local designer to carry their wares inside our Old Town Lansing shop, and also help boost someone's portfolio and career.  It's important to many of you, our customers, to shop locally.  So how cool is it that now we are not only a local shop but will have a completely local designer selling here too?!  Don't worry, you'll have a chance to meet the winner!

To apply the designers simply submitted their concept sketches, along with their headshot, a bio and an application form.  They each showcased two looks - one traditional size, one plus size since that's what we carry in the shop.  It is important any designer we carry that has flexibility can design for all body types!

Our local winning designer, Katie Raynard, was announced at the event.  Katie is a 23 year old designer living in Lansing who is currently developing her own line at the Runway called Edges Apparel.  Overall her garments have a sporty feel, and her main focus for this show was on her cover ups.  She titles her mini-collection "Zest" cultivating a fire-type personality with modern geometric class.

Katie's first look was a sheer cap sleeve top with an exaggerated hemline in back.  This was worn over a stretch tube top and booty shorts.

Katie's second look highlighted a great chiffon robe.  The neckline was finished beautifully, and the pleating on top just added to the outfit.  Beneath the robe she designed a full-busted bralette paired with high waisted leggings.

Both of these designs can easily be translatable into lingerie and lounge/swimwear options.  We think her full collection will really add a lot to the shop, so stay tuned for more from Katie this coming spring as we make arrangements together to bring her garments to Curvaceous!

The event itself included two runway shows. The first show was the Designer Show and included eight designers.  Each put their own spin on things and their looks added so much to the value of the event.  To see a video that includes each designer look that was presented, click on the video below that will take you to the Boudoir by Mary YouTube station!

Check out the following video for the Curvaceous Lingerie runway show, the second show of the evening!  Holiday looks were showcased, and everything you see is available in the shop this holiday season!

We had an amazing turnout, and thank you all so much who attended!  The energy of the audience was contagious - it seemed everyone was looking forward to something Lansing has never seen before!  A special thanks to Ellison Brewery of East Lansing (who is AWESOME, even if you aren't a beer drinker you should go there!), and to Confectionately Yours of Dansville for supplying some muchies for the crowd.  And as always Mary of Boudoir by Mary captured the event in pictures for us.  Remember this holiday season she offers specials for boudoir sessions ladies!!

From all of us at LCC, The Runway, and Curvaceous Lingerie thank you for following the event, and we look forward to presenting Katie's future collections to you inside Curvaceous sometime in Spring 2016.
